    These are a great set of knot tutorials but I don't quite believe the strength of the Perfection loop. In my, 50 year, experience it is more like 75% of the breaking strain of the line used.

    So if i have a Scandi short veristip can I load this shooting line and add the Scandi line or would it be better just having this line on its own. Also with the Scandi short would a normal running line do the job instead. As these lines are quite expensive I didnt want to purchase anything more than what I needed? Thanks in advance.

    I use these leaders fishing for browns all the time, they are amazing. But I attach Mono 8-12lb at the end instead of flouro and have success. I wonder what the advantages might be if I switch to flouro? The rivers I fish are small, mossy bottom water (thus dark) waters so maybe it's not an issue using heavy mono there. I'm curious however about how the streamer would potentially move differently using flouro, both in sinking and throughout the water when I manipulate the streamer. Thanks for the help!

    I didn't know about turle knot and I see there is beter representation of the fly. When Simon made demonstration on the big hook I have been ready to comment it because the nilon was going from down to up in the eye of the hook. But Simon then made other demo on the real fly and then nilon have been going correctly through the eye from up to down. Why this is important? Because tippet will be under water and not standing above surface of the water film...

    I am in 100% in agreement with @flyrodder68 on this line. Seriously disappointing coming from a top fly line manufacturer. It’s more than troubling. I found it borderline useless for its intent. Don’t know if what I had was a batch issue. But I’m guessing the med stiff core used in it is severely flawed. In comparison to a major competitor line on a Sage Mav it was night and day. Anyone who heads to a remote destination with just this line is in big trouble. Very surprised how this line made it to production.

    Do I need to seal the end(cut) of the fly line to prevent from soaking water? (for floating line) Thanks!

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS 2 місяці тому

      Typically we don't seal the end of the line when tying a knot connection vs loop but if you want to be extra safe, a tiny dab a Aquaseal might create some more insurance. When you synch down the knot, that usually prevents any water from sneaking up but if you do seal, make sure the sealant floats, otherwise a sealant more dense than water will drag the tip down.

    I read the other comments people made and I agree with them, excellent instructional video. He is a very good teacher, I am learning much and I can't wait to get back out on the water and try the techniques to improve my casting, as well as avoid the bad casts, like the creep and the others. I'll be happy when I am consistently making good casts instinctually, like I do when I'm spin casting. It's going to be so nice to watch that line roll out to perfection and the fly looking like it just landed like a real fly. Thanks to Simon and Rio for these well put together instructional videos.

      A 470gr or 500gr with 10ft Replacement Tip might be a good place to start. Every rod is a little bit different but that would be the grain window to dial-in on.

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS 2 місяці тому

      @@mt.hoodangler8733 Depends on our setup and what you like but for Scandi you can run "Replacement Tips" or "VersiLeaders" if your looking to switch up sink rates or you can run leaders clean off the end. Heaviest to lightest setups in that order. For a good middle ground, we suggest starting with VesiLeaders on dedicated Scandi casting.

    Hello. For a 9140 igniter Sage rod, what weight is the best? Thanks you

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS 3 місяці тому

      These particular lines are predominately focused on key Pacific Northwest 7 and 8wt spey sizes but for those looking for the same type of setup on a 9wt, the new GameChanger Body at 650gr with a RIO 15' InTouch Replacement Tip S3 is a good similar setup for 9wt spey rods. The key for the tip is, whatever density the GamChanger Body ends with at the head, you want to go equal or heavier than that on the replacement tip. So if you choose gamechanger ending in S3, go S3, S6, or S8 on the tip. If you have one ending in S5, go S6 or S8 on the tip. But for a 9140 IGNITER, you want to be more in the 650gr range, as 600gr is a little too light.

    • @viruspepe
      @viruspepe 3 місяці тому

      So to my 650 grain skagit I must add a 15 ft tip with a density equal to or greater than that of the end of the skagit. Did I understand correctly? What difference are between pickpocket y gamechanger? Thnks you

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS 3 місяці тому

      @@viruspepe You have that correct! equal to or great to the density at the end of the "or "body" in the case of gamechanger. Difference between the pickpocket and gamechanger is the gamechanger designed as a spey body, meaning in order to have it turnover correctly, this needs the correct length tip extension (15' replacement tip on 14' rod), as it's very rear loaded body. The pickpocket is more even weighted and shorter, which mean it's mainly for sub 14' rods. But to get something that works with a 9wt and 14" rod, the "body" tip combination needs to be longer. Otherwise it'll constantly cause one to blow their anchor when too short. The other difference is the pickpocket is for Skagit only, while the gamechanger can be configured as either scandi or skagit, depending on the tip configuration and application.
